The enhancing effect and application of nano-calcium carbonate on rubber properties
Nano-calcium carbonate possesses a three-dimensional structure and good dispersibility in rubber, exhibiting excellent semi-reinforcing properties. After surface modification, nano-calcium carbonate demonstrates excellent compatibility with rubber, offering reinforcing, filling, color-correcting, and processing/product performance improvements. It facilitates rubber mixing and dispersion, resulting in a soft, smooth rubber surface. It can significantly enhance the elongation, tensile strength, and tear strength of finished products. Furthermore, it can reduce rubber content or partially replace expensive white fillers such as titanium dioxide and silica, thereby improving product market competitiveness.
According to a report by the International Rubber Study Group (IRSG), global rubber demand will increase by 2.1% to 32.49 million tons in 2025, and is expected to reach 36.57 million tons by 2032; tire production will grow moderately, with an average annual growth rate of 1.46% over the next six years.
On the supply side, global natural rubber production is projected to grow by 3.5% to 15.24 million tons in 2025, but there will still be a demand gap of 488,000 tons, which is expected to expand to 779,000 tons by 2032.
