Basic Science: Three Common Pretreatment Processes for Calcium Carbonate

Calcium carbonate is divided into three types, with completely different uses. The common pre-treatment process for all production lines is: raw stone cleaning → iron and impurity removal → screening and stacking.
- Ground Calcium Carbonate (GCC): Direct grinding of stones with the lowest cost, available in two production lines: dry and wet
- Precipitatedcalcium carbonate (PCC): made by calcining and carbonizing limestone to precipitate, with better reinforcement effect
- Nano calcium carbonate: ultra-fine nano scale, with the highest added value, mostly used in high-end products
General modification tips: Calcium powder used in plastics, rubber, and coatings must undergo surface coating modification. stearic acid and coupling agents are commonly used modifiers, and an activation degree of 80% is considered a qualified product.

Plastic Industry (Largest Usage)

Suitable for calcium powder: 800-3000 mesh active heavy calcium/nano calcium
Addition ratio: 40-50 parts of PVC profile, 10-25 parts of plastic film
Simple production formula (PVC doors and windows): 100 parts of PVC resin+42 parts of 1250 mesh active calcium carbonate+4 parts of stabilizer+1.2 parts of lubricating wax
Production points: The modification temperature should be controlled at around 95 ℃. If the modification is not in place, white spots will appear on the surface of the product.
Paint and Ink Industry (High Profit Track)

Suitable for calcium powder: wet ultrafine heavy calcium, light calcium carbonate
Practical formula of emulsion paint: 40 portions of lotion+28 portions of 250 mesh ultra-fine calcium carbonate+12 portions of titanium dioxide
Production points: High end coatings are produced using a wet grinding production line. The finer the powder particle size, the smoother the paint film, and can also reduce the amount of titanium dioxide used, thereby lowering costs.
Paper Industry

There are two uses: pulp filling and paper coating
- Paper filling: 1000 mesh light calcium, with an added amount of 10% -25%, the paper is non transparent and whiter
- Copperplate paper coating: Wet process ultrafine calcium slurry, no need to dry, can be directly sent to the paper mill by tanker truck, saving energy consumption.
Rubber Products Industry

Suitable for calcium powder: 1250-2000 mesh activated light calcium, nano calcium
Simple rubber formula: 100 parts natural rubber+35 parts active light calcium+15 parts carbon black+1.8 parts sulfur
Advantages: Replacing some carbon black, reducing raw material costs, and improving product toughness; The moisture content of the powder must be below 0.3%, otherwise sulfurization will cause foaming.
Green Building Materials Industry (Preferred for Small and Medium-sized Factories, with High Volume)

Suitable for calcium powder: 325-800 mesh ordinary heavy calcium, no modification required
General formula for putty: 400 mesh heavy calcium 72%+talc powder 15%+gray calcium 8%+additive 0.3%
Simple production line: Ordinary Raymond mills can be put into operation with low investment and simple operation, suitable for small processing plants in county towns.
Food, Medicine, and Daily Chemical Products (High Threshold and High Profit)

Hard standard: high-purity ore without heavy metals, complete set of stainless steel dust-free equipment, independent production line, cannot be mixed with industrial calcium. Usage: calcium tablet additive, toothpaste friction agent, tablet auxiliary material, profit per ton is 4-6 times that of building material calcium powder.

- Environmental desulfurization/sewage treatment: 325 mesh coarse calcium carbonate, neutralizing the acidity and alkalinity of exhaust gas and wastewater, with low cost
