Applications and market demand of nano-calcium carbonate in the adhesive industry
Nano-calcium carbonate is an important functional inorganic filler, characterized by small particle size, large specific surface area, high surface activity, and good dispersibility, and has been widely used in the adhesive industry. Its addition can not only reduce raw material costs but also significantly improve the overall performance of adhesives.
In adhesive systems, nano-calcium carbonate primarily functions to enhance toughness, regulate rheological properties, and improve interfacial bonding. Nano particles can be uniformly dispersed in adhesives, forming excellent interfacial interactions with the polymer matrix, thereby improving the tensile strength, shear strength, and impact resistance of the adhesive while reducing the brittleness of the adhesive layer.
According to statistics from the China Adhesives and Adhesive Tapes Industry Association, in 2024, my country's adhesive industry produced approximately 8.624 million tons of adhesives, with sales reaching approximately 118.37 billion yuan, representing increases of 4.56% and 3.75% respectively compared to 2023. These figures indicate that against the backdrop of economic recovery, my country's adhesive industry achieved double-digit growth in both production and sales.
From the perspective of downstream application markets, the assembly industry, mainly composed of photovoltaics, wind power, home appliances, lithium batteries, and consumer electronics, saw the fastest growth (8.4%), leading the industry's growth trend.
Secondly, products primarily driven by consumer spending, such as paper, paperboard and related products (5.3%), and woodworking and joinery products (4.2%), also experienced considerable growth. Furthermore, consumer/self-use (retail) (3.4%), transportation (2.8%), construction (2.5%), and footwear and leather (1.4%) also saw some growth, boosting demand for adhesive products.
